As we jump into 2011, let’s reflect a bit on 2010. Are you one who SURVIVED? Or did you THRIVE?
Surviving is getting through the day and reacting to situations. It involves short term thinking. Thriving requires planning and evaluating. You respond to situations with a plan, and you have long term thinking. The reality is that there will be days that you just survive. Sometimes you have to survive the NOW, so that you can thrive LATER.
How do we thrive? Here are some suggestions:
- Schedule time alone – collect your thoughts, have devotional time with the Lord
- Go on a date with your spouse
- Schedule one-on-one time with your child
- Schedule some fun
- Pursue your desire a step at a time. Ask yourself, if there were no limitations, what would you do?
- Prepare for the next day
So do not fear, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord – with the first of them and with the last – I am he.” (Isaiah 41:4)
