Dear Warm an’ Loving friends,
On July 16th, as Joyce and I were driving from British Columbia, Canada to Burbank, California, we got a phone call from a very excited Rochelle.  As a grant writer, Rochelle had found a grant that was “custom-made†for Warm an’ Loving!
She went on to explain that it was for faith–based non-profits (that’s what we are!):
- To help provide pre-marital training for engaged couples (for over 25 years we have taught Grounds for Marriage to 50-75 couples a year!)
- To teach marriage skills to couples (about 60 -75 couples a year come to Marriage Tune Up, a weekend seminar we teach)
- To teach parenting skills to mothers (for over 20 years Joyce has taught over 200 moms a month in various locations)
- To teach parenting skills to fathers (through FIT – Father’s in Training – I teach an average of  50 men a month – this is our third year!)
In addition to all the above, we provide between 35-45 hours of counseling per week to individuals, couples, and families. Hearing what Rochelle said, we got excited.  “Let’s do it!â€
We already have all these ministries in motion, Â and if it can be funded too, well . . . ! Â From that day until July 25th, every discretionary hour (and more) of Rochelle and Joyce was consumed by researching and documenting the proposal.
In September we received a “NO!†regarding the grant.  That was discouraging, very discouraging.  Was all that effort a waste of time?
No!  And here is why…
The proposal required us to look back the more than twenty-five years of Warm an’ Loving Ministries. Â We are humbled to see how such an ordinary couple (as we are) was graced by God to do what He wants done. Â It also forced us to better define and assess the ministries provided.
In looking ahead, it was fun to dream, even at age 70 (Marv). We explored expanded ministries, better care of our fantastic staff, and the calm joy of having expenses and salaries being paid in a timely manner.
Now what? We are thankful for the past.  We are thankful for your support that allows us to continue doing and even dreaming!  We are also painfully aware that we need your help now – lots of it! Please consider supporting our ministry. We need gifts of $25, $50, $100 and some even larger.
Thank you, and bless you as you help us help others in need. All gifts are tax-deductible and have eternal-value, too!
Thankfully,
Marv
