Joyce and her husband, Marv, were married in 1968 and combine the experiences of over forty years of pastoral and counseling ministry into a unique style of writing and teaching together. They have raised their family in their home in Burbank, California. Joyce grew up in Canada and moved to California when she got married and has been in the same home in Burbank for over 45 years raising her family. Joyce is a voice, piano and theory instructor. She received her training through the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada, private study in Detmold, Germany, Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois, and the University of California-Stanislaus.
Her husband, Marv, is a marriage, child and family therapist in California. Together they have served on pastoral staff in Evangelical Free Churches and at Lake Avenue in Pasadena, their home church, where they still remain active teaching parenting classes and a premarital series: Grounds For Marriage. Marv and Joyce are frequent speakers at conferences and seminars in the United States and Canada. They have had the joy of being the speakers for conferences at sea on the Royal Caribbean Cruise ships.
They are co-authors with Bill and Martha Sears of Parent Project: Tools for Godly Parenting. Joyce was a regular contributor to the monthly magazine, La Familia. Marv and Joyce founded Warm an’ Loving Ministries which offers personal, couple and family counseling and seminars on a wide variety of topics drawn from their studies and experiences as parents of three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, and their nine grandchildren .
Joyce teaches seminars and workshops in Southern California helping moms as they provide discipline and nurture to their families.
Joyce’s hobbies include scrapbooking, redecorating, antiquing with Marv, and most of all, cooking family dinners.
