Continuing off our previous post on Impressing Forever Values<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, we are addressing the next six freedoms God gives us as we learn to relate to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freedom #5<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honor your father and your mother<\/span> . . . <\/span><\/p>Exodus 20:12 [NIV]<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. \u201cHonor your father and mother\u201d\u2014which is the first commandment with a promise\u2014\u00a0\u201cso that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>Ephesians 6:1-3<\/span> [NIV]<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

God’s desire for us is to have healthy relationships. Living under authority frees us to live in an ordered society. As we show honor to the authorities in our lives (parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, bosses), we are teach respect and gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freedom #6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You shall not murder<\/span>.<\/p>Exodus 20:13 [NIV]<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>Matthew 5:22 [NIV]<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

An underlying theme that can be drawn from these verses is: You are valuable<\/em>. People have value, and we are designed to live with the freedom and security of knowing that our lives are precious and to be protected. The practical side of this is that we need to control our anger in an appropriate way by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
