{"id":327,"date":"2012-10-24T09:00:25","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T16:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/?p=327"},"modified":"2012-10-19T11:38:38","modified_gmt":"2012-10-19T18:38:38","slug":"bonding-makes-lasting-relationships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/bonding-makes-lasting-relationships\/","title":{"rendered":"Bonding Makes Lasting Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/20121024-Post.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-330\" title=\"20121024 Post\" src=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/20121024-Post.jpg\" alt=\"Bonding\" width=\"432\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/20121024-Post.jpg 720w, https:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/20121024-Post-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bonding is about investing in relationships that last.<\/p>\n<p>When we build bonds at home, the desire is for your child to know where she belongs, know who is there for her, and know she can come to you at any time.\u00c2\u00a0 How do we make this happen?\u00c2\u00a0 We need to <strong>initiate<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 God provides a great example for us in the Garden of Eden.\u00c2\u00a0 In Genesis 3, after Eve and Adam ate from the Tree of Knowledge of good &amp; evil, God asked, &#8220;Where are you?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Even though God knew that they ate the forbidden fruit, He initiated the relationship.\u00c2\u00a0 Likewise, we need to initiate the relationships with our children.<\/p>\n<p>To build family bonds, <strong>invest<\/strong> in making <strong><em>connection deposits<\/em><\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 Some examples for the different stages are listed below.<\/p>\n<p>PREGNANCY<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Praying for your unborn child<\/li>\n<li>Reading, preparing, nesting<\/li>\n<li>Singing and talking to your child<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>INFANCY<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responding to needs consistently<\/li>\n<li>Holding, rocking, touching, hugging<\/li>\n<li>Interacting together<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PRESCHOOL<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Playing, singing, talking, walking<\/li>\n<li>Night-time rituals, Family Night<\/li>\n<li>Reading together<\/li>\n<li>Praying together<\/li>\n<li>Taking them to church, library, park, zoo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ELEMENTARY<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Holding, hugging, talking, listening<\/li>\n<li>Playing games, puzzles<\/li>\n<li>Night-time rituals<\/li>\n<li>Meals together, Family Night<\/li>\n<li>One-on-One dates<\/li>\n<li>Coaching them through schoolwork, projects, sports, lessons, activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PRE-TEEN &amp; TEEN<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Asking questions more than lecturing<\/li>\n<li>Listening, listening, listening<\/li>\n<li>Staying in communication<\/li>\n<li>Going to their events &amp; getting to know their friends<\/li>\n<li>Showing flexibility with schedules<\/li>\n<li>Scheduling family times<\/li>\n<li>Continuing traditions, vacations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t an extensive list, but it is a launching point for you to reflect upon what you can do now and what you can add.\u00c2\u00a0 As you can see, the list gets longer as kids get older.\u00c2\u00a0 The needs are also different.\u00c2\u00a0 When kids are younger, they more of your physical presence.\u00c2\u00a0 In the teen years, they need your presence and your flexibility so they have the opportunity to communicate their own thoughts and ideas.\u00c2\u00a0 Take some time to think about what stage your children are experiencing and how you can <strong>build some new bonds<\/strong> and <strong>reconnect some severed ones<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 As your child grows, parenting becomes less physically demanding and more emotionally demanding . . . but your <strong>love is always unconditional<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bonding is about investing in relationships that last.
