{"id":231,"date":"2011-12-05T11:43:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-05T19:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/?p=231"},"modified":"2011-12-05T11:48:34","modified_gmt":"2011-12-05T19:48:34","slug":"gifts-with-eternal-value","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/gifts-with-eternal-value\/","title":{"rendered":"Gifts with Eternal Value"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/20111205-Post.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-232\" title=\"20111205 Post Generations\" src=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/20111205-Post.jpg\" alt=\"Sarah J Photography\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/20111205-Post.jpg 800w, https:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/20111205-Post-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dear Warm an\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Loving friends,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">On July 16th, as Joyce and I were driving from British Columbia, Canada to Burbank, California, we got a phone call from a very excited Rochelle. \u00c2\u00a0As a grant writer, Rochelle had found a grant that was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153custom-made\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for Warm an\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Loving!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">She went on to explain that it was for <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">faith\u00e2\u20ac\u201cbased<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">non-profits<\/span><\/strong> (that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what we are!):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To help provide pre-marital training for engaged couples (for over 25 years we have taught <a title=\"Marriage\" href=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/?page_id=40\"><strong>Grounds for Marriage<\/strong><\/a> to 50-75 couples a year!)<\/li>\n<li>To teach marriage skills to couples (about 60 -75 couples a year come to <a title=\"Marriage\" href=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/?page_id=40\"><strong>Marriage Tune Up<\/strong><\/a>, a weekend seminar we teach)<\/li>\n<li>To teach parenting skills to <strong><a title=\"Mothers\" href=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/?page_id=6\">mothers<\/a><\/strong> (for over 20 years Joyce has taught over 200 moms a month in various locations)<\/li>\n<li>To teach parenting skills to fathers (through <a title=\"Fathers\" href=\"http:\/\/warmanloving.org\/site\/?page_id=7\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>FIT \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Father\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in Training<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; I teach an average of \u00c2\u00a050 men a month \u00e2\u20ac\u201c this is our third year!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In addition to all the above, we provide between 35-45 hours of counseling per week to individuals, couples, and families.\u00c2\u00a0 Hearing what Rochelle said, we got excited. \u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s do it!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We already have all these ministries in motion, \u00c2\u00a0and if it can be funded too, well . . . ! \u00c2\u00a0From that day until July 25th, every discretionary hour (and more) of Rochelle and Joyce was consumed by researching and documenting the proposal.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In September we received a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153NO!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d regarding the grant. \u00c2\u00a0That was discouraging, very discouraging. \u00c2\u00a0Was all that effort a waste of time?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">No! \u00c2\u00a0And here is why\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The proposal required us to look back the more than twenty-five years of <em>Warm an&#8217; Loving Ministries<\/em>. \u00c2\u00a0We are humbled to see how such an ordinary couple (as we are) was graced by God to do what He wants done. \u00c2\u00a0It also forced us to better define and assess the ministries provided.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In looking ahead, it was fun to dream, even at age 70 (Marv).\u00c2\u00a0 We explored expanded ministries, better care of our fantastic staff, and the calm joy of having expenses and salaries being paid in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Now what?\u00c2\u00a0 We are thankful for the past. \u00c2\u00a0We are thankful for your support that allows us to continue doing and even dreaming!
