What are your thoughts?<\/p>\n<p>Sharon<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Dear Sharon,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I must admit that Halloween was not my favorite holiday.\u00c2\u00a0 I<\/em><em> never enjoyed dressing up and putting outfits together on a limited budget<\/em><em> always seemed like a chore.\u00c2\u00a0 Many people love to dress up and look forward<\/em><em> to October 31st.\u00c2\u00a0 There are so many ways to celebrate any holiday and your<\/em><em> children will remember how YOU celebrated.\u00c2\u00a0 Rather than talking about what<\/em><em> is wrong with Halloween, focus on making it a day to enjoy with your family.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Most children love to get dressed up so you can enjoy planning a costume<\/em><em> or have them put a simple costume together.\u00c2\u00a0 I suggest that you focus on<\/em><em> the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153treating\u00e2\u20ac\u009d part of Halloween.\u00c2\u00a0 Here are some ideas:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em> If you are uncomfortable with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153trick-or treating,&#8221; have your children dress up and hand out the treats to the children that come to your house. Follow that up with your own family \u00e2\u20ac\u0153party!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Make cookies or buy candies that you pass out at a local retirement home.\u00c2\u00a0 Older people love seeing children and would enjoy seeing little ones dressed up.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Some families prefer to have their children \u00e2\u20ac\u0153trick or treat\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at just their close neighbors and friends homes.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Plan a party with your friends so the children can enjoy apple cider, bobbing for apples, and seeing each other in costume.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Most shops in malls have treats to hand out to kids and it is a safe way for your family to enjoy the evening.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Many local churches host Halloween or Harvest celebrations to enjoy as a family.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em> Remind your daughter that you are a wonderful mother and that she has a<\/em><em> great family.
